Vermont Residents pay 16.2% of Income in Taxes
AP reports that Vermont residents pay 16.2% of their income in State and local taxes. This was second highest in the New England Area (Maine was 17.3%). New Hampshire (12.3), Connecticut (13.5%) and Massachusetts (13.7%) where the lowest.
Figures were obtained by comparing total personal income with the total taxes raised by state and local governments.
The national average is 15.1%.
