Stowe Tax Rates Going Up
An article in the Stowe Reporter states that the tax rates in Stowe will be going up 11% for the coming tax year. It appears that the residential rate will about $1.63/$100 value while the nonresidential rate will be $1.66. The nonresidential rate is paid by businesses and nonprimary homeowners.
The tax rate in Stowe has been rising steadily, especially the last couple of years. A large part of the increases have been due to the State property school tax known as Act 60 and it's revision Act 68.
It should be noted that even with this tax increase Stowe property taxes are still lower than surrounding towns.
